Heathcote Reserve - Applecross

Well we have found another new park. This one is just South of the river and has a great play park for the kids., there are also BBQ's and a cafe. It is a very expensive area with some stunning views over the river and the city, just as well the park is free!

Somerly Easter Eggperience

This was an Easter fun day for the family organised up at Somerly by the residents association and one of the local churches. It was fun for the kids with games and a sausage sizzle. Yes they did ask for parent participation so Claire and I just had to try the egg & spoon race. We decided it was a draw! It was a good few hours and tired the kids out.

Joondulup Festival 2007

This was a street festival held up in Joondulup over the weekend. It involved local organisations, schools, companies and the local college made all the big floats and costumes. There were street entertainers and craft stalls, a small funfair and they had a youth section which involved skateboarding competitions, BMX displays, Ryan enjoyed this part, luckily no audience participation!

World Playgroup Day - Whiteman Park

This was a good couple of ours out at the park. The organisers had done well and had a lot of activities for the kids, there was a cuddly animal farm, painting and information stalls, all for free. It was good and made a change from our regular playgroup routine.

100th Surf Life Saving Championships - Scarborough Beach

This was the centenary of the surf live savers. These are the volunteers who patrol the beaches throughout Australia over the summer months. There was about 8000 competitors, apparently second only to the Olympics in competitor numbers, from all over Australia. They compete in a number of different races both on the beach and in the water over a five day period, climaxing in the iron woman and man contest. It was difficult to see some of the events but big screens helped. We only had a couple of hours there but it was good to see.
